CityPups
Role
UX Designer
Background
Living in urban areas presents issues when it comes to owning a dog and providing a good quality of life for them. CityPups is an application that is intended to pair its users with dogs available for adoption, with a focus on matching dogs to their potential owners’ city lives. The purpose of the project is to refine the onboarding process so users feel confident the dogs presented will match their lives.
Usability Test
Chelsea is a potential user who is interested in adopting a dog for the first time. She ran through the three main onboarding screens and gave feedback as she did so.
The main feedback Chelsea gave was that a lack of information on these screens didn’t give her confidence that the dogs presented to her would actually match her needs.
Sketches
I did some quick sketches for each screen, brainstorming ways to solve Chelsea’s issue. Choosing a few element alterations, I made some more detailed sketches before going to Figma.
Redesign
For each screen, I added more context for each choice. For the size screen, I gave context as to real numbers that each size category includes, I provided options to include yards and parks to the home selection, and gave specific numbers to the ‘how active can you be’ screen.
